BECKY CASH: EDUCATION

Becky Cash voted in favor of Indiana House Bill 1001, also known as the Indiana School Funding Reform Bill (i.e., voucher and school choice program).  This bill has turned into a major drag on Indiana public school budgets and a handout for rich families that were already sending their kids to private schools.  In 2025, a family of four that makes almost a quarter of a million dollars will still be eligible for thousands of dollars in taxpayer assistance.

Becky Cash co-authored Indiana House Bill 1447 which requires schools to ban library books and other materials that are “obscene” or “harmful to minors” based on arbitrary guidelines.  This puts the government in charge of what kids see instead of parents making those decisions.

Becky Cash wants to criminalize librarians who do not comply with HB1447. According to this April 28, 2023 Indianapolis Star article, "Librarians who violate the law could be charged with a Level 6 felony and face up to two and a half years of jail time."

Becky Cash wants to put cameras in classrooms in Indiana classrooms despite major privacy concerns and huge financial costs to already strained school budgets.
